My boys had some cavas type shoes a bit like daps that we bought in Walmart, they were designed to be worn in the water and on the beach.[msnsmile]

we bought them before for a holiday, it helps your toes not to be scra ped on the sides of pools and the floors!! wish i had some when we went last time, my feet were so sore!! it was like being rubbed down with sandpaper!!!
My girls have these they slip on like plimsoles and are light rubbery canvas. We got them here in Ireland for about 4 or 5 euro so you are bound to be able to get them in the UK before you go or get them in Walmart.

I saw some kids wearing these in BB. It did not look like they were making a huge difference and at least one of them seemed happier without them. I think barefoot in the water is much more fun. But they might be useful walking between slides etc if you have a tendency for sore feet.
These shoes have to fit properly or you might as well tie plastic bags to your feet!

The ones we bought in Walmart for around $5 a pair are rubber soled and nylon mesh upper so they dry quite quickly.
They are invaluable in the summer when any areas of concrete (and even the sand) can burn your feet when walking in the water parks.

One thing though. I am not sure that they allow them on the big slides. I cannot recall seeing anyone wearing water shoes on Summit Plummet, Runoff Rapids etc. Might be a question of safety.

The ones i saw (and used) in BB (this was in 1997 mind)were like very tight socks with a rubber sole.
They were cheap and only really lasted the day.
My husband always wears them as he has got to be careful with his feet. I don't wear anything, but always feel squirmy and squeamish about walking in damp areas. Also, I do think that when it is very hot sometimes you can hardly bear to put your feet down, I feel like a cat on a hot tin roof. I think I will probably opt for flip-flops next time, as I only tend to go in the pools and on the lazy rivers anyway, so will tie them around my neck or something - probably strangle myself in the process. My daughteer grazed her toe whilst at Typhoon Lagoon once so I can see the sense in wearing the shoes. They are not designed to swim but for protecting the feet when you are in the water. Also good for walking on really hot sand.

With regards to my post a couple of minutes ago, I DO WEAR SWIM WEAR!!!! Chloe
Pleased to hear that Chloe! Had visions of you being arrested for a moment... :D
The ones they sell in Wal-Mart seem to be ideal as they've got mesh on the top so your feet don't get too hot and they let the water in (and out!).
I buy these for my little girl to wear around the pool. We got ours from Next and they are rubber soled and fit close to the feet. They were not too expensive.
They are great for wearing by the pool when it is hot to stop burning feet but also great to stop kids slipping on the wet surfaces.
Wouldn't recommend wearing down the slides though - could be dangerous if they caught on the slide.

I have bought the shoes described in Walmart each time they were needed, they are useful for the water parks especially! :)And we love Walmart prices!
Much cheaper in Walmart. You can purchase them at the Water parks, where they will be "logoed up" ie Typhoon lagoon, but more expensive.
I think they are great, as mentioned above, when the concrete gets hot they protect your feet and also prevent abrasions. My children love them and have worn them on the rides as they are allowed.

They had small childrens sizes in our local Poundland last summer so it's worth keeping an eye out for them through the year.
Do you need these shoes for Discovery Cove when swimming with the Dolphins. Or are you OK just to have bare feet?
Karen, we bought our's specifically to use at DC, as the bottom of the Coral reef was uncomfortable to walk on in bare feet [msnsmile] As already said, they come in handy at the water parks too when the ground and sand are really hot, and I'm with Chloe as far as walking in damp area's goes [msnwink]

Wind surfing type shoes are good for this sort of thing too.
I was told to take mine off to go down the slides at blizzard beach!.

Do they sell the shoes in Walmart all year round?
Does anyone know where they can be bought in the UK?

I noticed today Agros have a few childrens sizes at £9.99 in their catalogue.
Karen, Cotton Traders sell them, and I think they have shops in most of the airports, their online store has them too.

If your going to DC then like Rosie says they are good for there. I didn't have any and wish I had. They do sell them there but bit more expensive than as the others have said if you go to Walmart etc..
I hated going to the loo with no shoes on!!! [msnscared]

Same here. I always keep a pair of plastic slippers in a separate carrier bag while going to a public swimming pool or Water Park. Unfortunately cleanliness is not always everyone's priority.
Thought I'd just mention this again as I saw them for sale in Primark last week for £3, and there was a full size range [msnsmile]

Have to agree there Chloe
On hot days the paths in the water parks can become quite hot so a pair of flip flops does help.

just stocked up on a pair for everyone in our party from Primart.
various colours. £3 kids and £5 for adults if i remember correctly, (although i bought so much i may be wrong there). just none in mens sizes.
my 7 year old cut her foot at TL when she was 3 and still bares the scar to prove it. :(
We buy them for the grandchildren and always at Walmart or Target. Another good thing for the children is to buy some "swim ear" they spend so much time in the pool on holiday and children in this country are not used to being immerged in water to that degree and often have ear trouble and this can help to prevent. Again good old Walmart......

I have seen these swim shoes in 'Exsports' which is part of the 'Sports Soccer' Chain of shops. The Childrens Shoes were £2.99, didn't see the price of adults, would be no more than £5.00 I would have thought.[msnsmile]

There are about 115 stores across the country, so shouldn't be one too far away [msnsmile]
