Steve and Dawn

Next place we visited was Animal Kingdom. It was quite busy and so we decided to get a fast pass for the Safari Ride and then take a walk down the jungle trail and look at the animals while we were waiting. Even that was quite busy. By the time we had done that, had a drink it was time to do the Safari. Dawn and I have done this before and this time we did some more animals closer up than we had previously. We did Countdown to extinction, some of the rides in Dinoland for the kids and the Congo Rapids. One thing I have noticed is that we have never found anywhere really nice to eat in Animal Kingdom. I think out of all the parks Sea World and Busch Gardens on the whole, offer the best food.[msnwink] We watched the parade, which was a first for Dawn & me. Animal Kingdom is not one of our favourite parks, things might look up a bit when they open Conquest Everest. It does really look like something special. Although, my rollercoaster days may be over.[msncry] For many years I have had no problem with them but these last couple of years I have had trouble getting the shoulder harness over my body on some coasters![msnembarrased] I can’t do up the strap to the harness.[msnembarrased] Now. Either I have got bigger (Hmmmm……. Possibly [msnsad]) Or they are making the seats smaller.[msnwink] They do have “Special” seats for the “Special” larger person but I am reluctant to use them,[msnembarrased][msnembarrased] so, either I have to drop some weight or go into retirement. It’s only some of them, well, most of them really. I am ok on Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster and Gwazi, mind you that seemed to shake the living daylights out of me this time.[msnscared] Maybe it is time to give it up. I have been trying to get Dawn on R & Rollercoaster for a few years but she won’t have it. She went on Big Thunder Mountain last year for the first time and enjoyed it. She was shaking like leaf when she came off though. She even lifted her arms in the air on Splash Mountain…. Woo hoo…[msnsmile2] Again, the day was hot and humid. We were hearing something on the TV about a Hurricane forming called Wilma. It was a good few days away yet nothing to worry about but we will keep an eye on it. That night we ate at Tony Romas. Oh yessssss. This is one of our favourites. I love the baked potato soup here. Dawn has a half slab of Baby Backs and I have the full rack, Jay & Dawn also had ribs. Paige had the child’s portion but they didn’t seem as nice as ours. We never had a dessert in here you are normally to full to eat anymore after the main course. We used to have the Onion Loaf as an appetizer it is lovely but too filling. We went to the one at Lake Buena Vista. Which was weird because we went back there about 10 days later and it had closed down, the sign had gone everything. Like it had never existed![msnscared]
Next day back to Typhoon Lagoon, get some rays and some relaxation. We had a great day. Did the Gush ‘n’ Crusher again. Had a gentle drift around the lazy river. Left around 4:00 and headed home to get ready for dinner. If I remember rightly we went to Chilis again. This time we went on I-drive and the service was so slow, even the drinks came out in two deliveries. Some getting theirs and others waiting another 10 mins. Food was still enjoyable though. News on Wilma is that it will head up into the Gulf of Mexico and a descending cold front would push it from its northerly track East, it would be steered by the frontal system. So it looks like we will get something from it. Still a few days away though.[msncool]
Next day we decided we would go to Clearwater Beach. The weather was brilliant sunshine and mid 80’s. We love Clearwater, it’s a bit more commercialised than Fort Myers where we sometimes go. FM is much more natural Florida. It seems more tropical the vegetation looks more like you would see in the Caribbean. You can always see Coconut palms and the odd Banana tree. We set off for Clearwater at about 8:30, called in at McD’s drive thru for a sausage and Egg Mc Muffin and a coffee then off down the I-4 towards Tampa. The traffic was pret
