Hi y'all

Am thinking of or should I say have decided on Westridge this time to fit in with holiday dates in October. Not sure of this community - seems a lovely villa backing on to a lake and field which will please me if there is some wildlife. Anyone tell me about the area please?

WESTRIDGE is located in the outskirts North of the town of Davenport, Florida (minutes from Kissimmee) along highway U.S. 27 between Highway U.S. 192 and the I-4 Interstate. Both highways are an easy 5 to 10 minute drive. Disney's main gates are approximately a 15 minute drive, and Orlando International Airport is approximately 30 minutes away (depending on traffic).

The Westridge community offers a wonderful mix of full time residents and short-term rental homes. Our neighborhood is quiet and peaceful, well maintained, and safe with well lit streets. The homes are nicely spaced in a landscape of gently rolling hills.

Our community offers free use of its cabana, community pool, play area for children, lit tennis courts, and basketball and volleyball courts to residents and guests.

If you are a golf enthusiast you may choose to play a round next door at Highlands Reserve, or even try Greg Normans new "Champions Gate" Complex which is just minutes away, as are numerous other courses.

maybe email your villa owner he/she should know all about whats what in that area

Stayed at this location in 2003, really nice area with a good mixture of residents and holiday makers. Publix really close which is always very handy. In the early morning we had air balloons go over on a couple of days, wonderful to see as you swim in the pool. Remember seeing quite a bit of wildlife as we walked around the community, especially birds. The community pool looked ok but don't remember seeing anyone using it during our stay.

Thanks for that. Just as I thought - am especially interested in wildlife and my villa owner tells me it abounds around the villa so I shall be well satisfied. I just wondered if there were shops and restaurants near and it seems as though there are. October can't come soon enough.

Lisi.............Montanna Ave by any chance?

March 28th will be our third time staying at a villa on Westridge, we love it.
The villa we stay in overlooks a smallish lake and even has a small jetty from which me and my lad fish from most days.

Not sure of the address yet Mick-H - just waiting for the booking forms to arrive. It sounds absolutely lovely overlooking the lake and the owner tells me they see foxes and deer and of course the sandhill cranes. Will be in my element. No 1 son spent all our last trip to Florida waiting for the gator in the lake at Crescent Lakes to surface - we were told he was there and saw plenty of ripples but not a sign of the gator!

at cresent lakes last october we saw beautiful deer in the road, (willow bend trail or something like that) big mama on oneside of the road and the babies on the other side, could barely see them, and when they saw our headlights they just stood and glared!!! such a lovely site!!!

We saw three gators in the lake during our last visit, once or twice they were on the embankment so your son should have a good chance of seeing one during your visit.
Just to warn you, the lake isn't very big, you can walk round it fairly easy in an hour.
Google earth will give you a good idea, little blurd but worth the effort.
