Anyone had troubles using a Visa Debit Card, instead of a Credit card when hiring a Car at Orlando International Airport? If so, what remedy do they recommend? [?]

as long it displays the visa logo and not delta or electron you should be fine.
The treat it just like a credit card.

Yes!
I used to use a Citicard Visa Debit card(before I got Nationwide Credit and Debit cards) and it was questioned on a couple of occasions(I had pre-paid in full). They did reluctantly accept it, but said they are not supposed to accept debit cards only credit cards. This was with Alamo.

When the machine reader asks you to select "Credit' or 'Debit', select Credit even if you're using a debit card. Works for me anyway.

Thats what I also do and don't have any problems EXCEPT at MCO car rental(which is what the OP asked) where you hand the Debit card to the desk clerk so they can record the number in case you are late back with the car/owe for petrol etc.
I suppose their thinking is that you are, in effect, using a debit card as a guarantee and of course you could have no funds left in your bank after a very expensive holiday in Florida!! So as a guarantee card it is useless.

Thanks for all the replies, yes it is specifically at MCO, for car hire I need to know, having had various answers from the rental companies, some do and so dont! As for use as a guarantee card, they say they put a hold to a certain Value on the card to the value of the rental, i.e. two weeks rental @ 360 Quid, they hold 360 Quid on the card! However, in saying that I just wanted to make sure that they would accept them (the ones which say they will), like Alamo and Budget, so having known that someone else has had hassle, just confirms that.
Thanks Delboy
