I am looking for an SUV for next summer to hold 6 adults and some luggage. We won't go mad with the luggage and will prob only bring one large bag per couple. Will a 7 Seater SUV be big enough or will will need an 8 seater. There is a huge price difference between the 7 and 8 seater (£300 diff for 2 weeks).
Hi Neil,
You say you are looking for a 6 seater SUV but I assume you mean a people carrier as Im not aware of a 6 seater SUV, the biggest SUV I have hired was a Surberban which was huge but only a 5 seater.
If there will be 6 of you then a 7 seater will be fine especially if your not bringing much luggage.

I have had a suburban and it did have 7 seats, the last row will fold down flat. I have normally had a tahoe when we have hired a 7 seater SUV. If you want a larger car then it will be a minivan not an SUV. The hardest thing will be the luggage run as with the back seats up for occupants, the back is about the same size a good sized normal SUV,but they do have very square backs, and you may not see a lot out of the window, but for just a one trip back and forth you could be fine. You will have to flip the back passenger seat up and down to use the far back row. but it easy.

Florida Car hire have a number of large SUV quoted on their site.
Luxury SUV (7 seats) Alamo / National: Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator
Premium SUV (8 seats) Alamo / National: Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon XL
7 Seater 4x4 / SUV Dollar: Dodge Durango / Chrysler Aspen or similar Alamo / National: Chevrolet Tahoe or similar
Ideally we would want one that can have access to both rows of seats without having to climb over or flatten the middle row.

Coem to think of it, there are 3 far back seats in the tahoe, 3 back seats and then 2 front seats.
I did have one car a number of years ago, that had three seats in the front. Not sure they do them any more.
So although they say 7 seater, I suppose it is a 8 seater really, maybe they call it 7 passenger seats.
I have had Tahoe, Aspen.Durango. all fullsize SUV's with two rows of seats for three each.

Neil, I agree with other comments, the 7 seater will be fine. We hired the 7 seater SUV from this site last year and had a lovely Buick Enclave, it was ideal for 6 of us and we had LOADS of luggage!

I'm not sure about the 8 seater SUV's but we've hired quite a few 7 seater SUV's. We've had 2 seats in the front, then a row of 3 then a row of 2, however that back row is really uncomfortable for an adult as there is no drop down for your legs. We've only ever hired them for 5 of us so we always drop the back 2 seats down to make room for our luggage. For 6 adults I think you'd be more comfortable in a 7 seater minivan.
