We would have been Publix people but last year in Glenbrook we were very convienient to WinnDixie and we got to like the staff very much. THey took such good care of us and helped us find what we wanted , my son maintained I knew each staff member and their date of birth by the time I was leaving . Wrong I only had got around to half by the time I was leaving!.

For our first food shop for provisions on arrival, is it best to shop at Publix or Walmart?

I think we will be fairly close to both (on Indian Point) but am not sure whether one has a better choice in food than the other. We have shopped at Publix many years ago but never been to Walmart.

The nearest Publix from Terra Verde is about 5 minutes away. Drive out of Terra Verde up to the 192, turn right and then left at vineland Road. (I think Vineland road is the 2nd left) You will be able to see it clearly from the road 192 it will then be on your right hand side.

What an interesting thread!! I spent most of my last time going to the Walmart in Haines City - it was huge and a real eye-opener! We seem to have bought loads and spent very little. Our 3 year old was fascinated by the guns for sale.... The Walmart was closed druing the hurricane so we missed out on our trips but did find a Publix that was fine too.... talk about late night shopping and copming out feeling the warmth on your back..... I need to go back ...I need to go....

    Hi Bassral

No Indian point is not near High Grove.

But if you are looking for the nearest supermarkets to High Grove there is a Publix 1/2 mile East on the 192, Wal Mart (open 24hrs) 1/2 mile North on the 27 or Winn Dixe 3/4 mile North on the 27. Take your pick. We prefer Publix for grocery shopping and Wal Mart for just about everything else. I must admit we have never been in the Winn Dixie.

Walmart, but only if you've got all day to shop!

normally just go to wal-mart as closest although publix is only about an extra 2 mins away.

We were already in Walmart getting non food items-so thought it would be easier to get some food there.

I really don't think that there is the quality that you get in Publix, Goodings or Winn Dixie.

Anyway asked this american lady if she had seen the grapefruit juice and apparently they don't stock local produce!

So we had to come away without.

My real favourite supermarket for food was Albertsons at the posh Dr Phillips part-so a bit off the beaten track for most guest and villa owners as the area is residential-but it was so clean you could eat off the floor.

I rather like the food dept in Super Target on the OBT-haven't tried the new one yet. This is the only place I have see Einstein bagels-yum!

If you want organic produce -then you need to go to Chamberlins on the John Young Pkway-right off 192 before Kissimmee Old Town arch.
