ATMs/Debit and Cashcards

During our forthcoming visit to Florida we are intending to use our Nationwide (Visa) debit cards to withdraw cash as there is no charge for this. Our daughter also has a Nationwide account but it has restricted facilities (because of her age) including providing only a CIRRUS card rather than a Visa. Can anyone advise whether there are easily available ATMs that allow use of this type of card please.

Hello,
We always use our Nationwide Debit & Credit cards during our trip's to Florida, during our trip in Feb our son used his card which is not a debit card to draw out cash all through his holiday at ATM's.
We got great rates using our Nationwide cards $1.91 to the £ on some days[clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap]
So I don't have to tell you how much shopping we did[msnwink]

Have a wonderful holiday in Florida, this time in 2 weeks we will be there again[msnsmile2]Card's at the ready[msnwink]

I think I know the card you mean as our youngster had the same type of card before he became 18. CIRRUS is accepted in the US along with 119 other countries. Not sure where you are staying but if your daughter wants to use an ATM to draw cash the link is for the page to locate the nearest ATM http://www.mastercard.com/atmlocator/index.jsp

Have a great holiday

Hi Christine
Like the UK you will have no problem finding an ATM.
They are located in all the theme parks, large stores, gas stations, shopping malls.....don't worry, you will have no problem spending your money[msnwink]

Please take care to read any messages on the ATM screen or on the machine though. Some ATM owners will charge you, however they should tell you this before you complete the transaction.

Nationwide do not make any charges at all. If the ATM owner does, it will be added to your transaction and will not be refunded, it isn't something that Nationwide can do anything about I'm afraid.

You will normally find this type of notice on the small ATM's in shopping malls, not usually on ones belonging to banks.

Have a great time, and enjoy your spend, spend, spend!

We always use Suntrust Banks ATM's where there is no charge for using Nationwide cards.

it also pays to notify the bldg society in advance of your travel dates as sometimes cards can be blocked if they notice "unusual" spending patterns

a valid point especially for a younger person who might not have used a card abroad before.
