    Daytona

We are thinking of driving up to see Daytona next summer and am wondering if anyone can give us any ideas of the best places to see and things to do. Would a day be long enough or do you think we would maybe need to stay overnight somewhere to be able to see everything?[msnsmile]

The race track and maybe if you're up for it you could do the Richard Petty Driving experience. I think for around $90 you can have 4 laps driven round the circuit in a NASCAR. Experience driving your car on the beach. Also there is a place just before you get to the speedway on the left at the back of a "Friendly's" eatery is a park with several go cart tracks and a Drag Car ride. You get two goes for arounf $20. 0-70 in 2 seconds.

There isn't a great lot to see at Daytona apart from the Race Track and beach. There are about amusement arcades, shops, cafe's etc on the promenade. A day is sufficient time.
If you want to spend a couple of days away from the Orlando area, have you thought of a visit to St. Augustine? We are planning to go there at the end of this month.

I think we will visit the speedway first and then head to the beach for the afternoon and maybe find somewhere nice to eat before heading home. The Driving Experience sounds great - my husband would love a shot of it - do you need to book beforehand or could we just turn up on the day and get a shot?[msnscared]

You don't have to book in advance for the Richard Petty driving experience and it costs about $134.00. Visit www.daytonausa.com for more info.
