    Another Car Hire Query

We are at the stage of finalising the last bits for our first visit to Orlando, we intend to stay for 3 weeks.

We are 2 families travelling and we have decided to book a car each from either Dollor or Alamo using link above.

I have 2 questions about this as follows:
    1. If we decide to upgrade to a 12 seater after a week will there be any problems with either company and what kind of surchage should we expect, we might hold onto one car as well?
    2. Is the Sat nav worth the money, a friend of mine has recently returned from the US and said the Sat Nav he had was voice only with no graphics and lost it's positioning if you drove under a tunnel/bridge - you had to stop to let it calibrate itself.

Is there anything else we need to look out for in regards to car hire?
    Thanks

All upgrades etc are done locally and surcharges etc will have to be made there, It might be worth speaking to Roger about the car hire and find out which will be the best option for you. The Sat Nav your friend might have had may have been one from the US car hire desk, the Sat Nave on here is from the UK and delivered to you here I think it is a Tom Tom so, it has all the graphics etc.

It might be an option to have to start with a 12 seater and a small car, this way, you can all go together if and when needed, as well as if a couple of you want ot go somewhere different. you have both options available.

When we went a few years ago there was 12 of us, 8 adults and 4 kids. We all stayed in the same villa[msneek] We had two cars, a twelve or 16 seater van, can't remember which, I think it was the 16[:O] it was massive as I recall. Also we had a 7 seater van. This worked out great, if some were ready to go anywhere and others wasn't then the 2nd car came in handy for them to catch up later. Also , sometimes you want to do seperate things, it comes in very handy and looking at the prices on this site, it won't break the bank[msnsmile2]

My recent guest who used the satelite navigation from here said she wouldn't be without it and thought it was excellent

We only do the best GPS units, voice and visual and very easy to use, they even come pre loaded with you villa address, provdiing you tell us.
I would never upgrade over there, it is very expensive. Pay now and it will save you money.

I would definitely consider the 2 vehicle option.
However well you get on and with the best will in the world there will be times when you want to different things.

I was also led to believe that they do not have as many larger 12-16 people vehicles as they do have medium to large car so it will be better all round to book before you go or you might be disappointed.

You need to book 12 seaters several days in advance, so definately plan ahead. You can risk upgrading whilst over there, but then even if there is one available you will pay the very high Dollar or Alamo rate.

Phog, bear in mind that the Car hire on this site (while very good value) do not deliver the GPS device to Ireland. This may of changed since I last inquired.
