We left the house at 8.20 this morning and parked in Spiderman 154 at 8.50. The crowds were still not huge and so far we're extremely glad we didn't spend the extra money for the express passes.
DD wanted to ride Hulk and we waited on the bridge for her to go on. Within two minutes she was back – she'd chickened out!
We got to Spiderman at 9.20 and it was a walk-on. Unfortunately it broke down in the middle a couple of times and they let us straight back on to ride again. This is an excellent 3D ride and we really want to try and come back to this again later or on another day. It takes you though various scenes from the Spiderman films and you have a nice feeling of being part of it all. The queue theming is superb although because it was a walk-on we didn't really get to spend a lot of time looking at it all.
We back-tracked a little and DD and DS2 rode Storm Force Accelatron. Too much spinning for the rest of us.
We then walked through a very empty Super Hero Island and Toon Lagoon, stopping for a few photographs on the way.
The theming is absolutely fabulous in this park and we were pleased it was so empty as we really had an opportunity to stop and look at things properly. Difficult to believe it was July and one of the busiest times of the year.
Ds1, DD, DS2 and I decided to ride Dudley Do-Right. It was posted as a 5- minute wait and we left DH with all the bags and things and off we went.
I really wasn't sure about this drop. Journey to Atlantis was steep but this looked steeper. It was such a lovely ride though and they very thoughtfully stopped at the top before tipping you over the edge! Great fun! We got absolutely soaked. Even DS1 enjoyed it!
When we got off DH decided to go with DD and DS2. I heard DH screaming before they were anywhere near the drop!!
We dried off and stopped for a quick snack and then headed on round to Popeye's Bilge-Rat Barges. More great theming. I love this park – it's definitely my favourite so far and I could have gone on some of the rides over and over again.
Well if we were wet from Dudley Do-Right we were positively drenched when we came off Popeye but what a great ride. I really loved it and there's really no-one who gets off dry – brilliant!
Fortunately I'd brought some dry clothes and after a quick change we headed over to Jurassic Park. It was busy here though and we decided not to do either of the rides here today. River Adventure was showing a standby time of 45 mins and Pteranodon Flyers 75 mins!
The kids played in the adventure park for a bit and DH and I planned the rest of the day. We decided that it would probably be best to leave the park now and get a few hours' rest and come back in the evening to do the other half.
So we slowly walked around through the Lost Continent and Seuss Landing planning what we wanted to do when we come back later and left the park at 1.30.
The kids went into the pool and DH and I crashed out in front of the TV before making lunch. After lunch we slept for about two hours before surfacing and leaving the house again at 6.15.
This time we were parked in Jaws 414 – the other car park. This proved to be really good when it was time to leave as it was far emptier than the main one which they use in the morning.
We went anti-clockwise round the park this time starting in Seuss Landing and riding Cat in the Hat.
I actually don't like the Dr Seuss books and have bad memories of them from my childhood. For some reason they really used to scare me and I still remember being frightened of the drawings from the Fox in Socks book
