Our daughter who has been going to Florida twice a year all her life (lucky girl), went to France for 8 days in the summer. Though NEVER bitten in Florida, April or October, she received 2 awful ones in France last August, and still had red marks left over[msnoo] So if you are prone to bites any action you can take is worth while[msnwink]

I get bit everywhere at home and every holiday we've been on france, tenerife or florida

Was told I am the equivalent to an insect all you can eat buffet, something to do with my blood group by the man at wallgreens

I had bites from chiggers, no see um, mosi, ants, spiders the list goes on was told to wear socks, elasticated trouser and tops, basically cover my whole body.

But thanks to posts read bought skin so soft bath oil, bubble bath, body wash and body lotion used all the time.

stayed at bahama bay in december and as has had no bites in 7 days braved it and went for an hour walk through grass, sand, trees, sat buy lake couldnt believe it no bites.

Tried numerous deet products over the years and they didnt help

Did get a couple of bites on plane back but hadnt reapplied body lotion as it was in case didnt thing could take on due to size of bottle more than 100ml.

The whole family now use it all the time, apart from conditioner its only thing on side of bath I even wash my hair with it

It may not work with everyone but I think it GREAT!!![clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap][clap]

Sharon, same here, I can actually hear all the mozzies shouting "come on boys, dinners here" whenever I go out for a walk on our estate in the evenings, especially near the lakes and ponds. I come up in saucer sized, hard bites that really itch. I once looked like the elephant man coming back from Florida on the plane and the Air Hostess was quite concerned about me and even went and got some anti-histamine for me. I think she was more worried about me frightening the other passengers really. [msnsmile2][msnsmile2]
Ive also heard that its something to do with your blood type that attracts the mozzies and judging from all these posts I would say that that could be a major possibility as some people seem to get bitten to death and others not touched. Blott - what blood group are you I need to get a transfusion[msnwink][msnwink]. Gill

I too seem to attract mosquitos and whereas the rest of the family are untouched, I always end up with bites all over and they swell up and itch for days. We went to Europe in the motorhome a couple of years ago and made the mistake of opening a window one hot night and we were parked next to a canal. I was absolutely covered the next day.

However, we have travelled to Florida a lot over the past 15 years and I don't think I have ever been bitten once. It is something I don't even think about.

We cruise often too, I do worry about getting bitten in the Caribbean but thankfully we are at sea during the most dangerous parts of the day and I have not been bitten there either. I do use lots of spray and wipes though on the islands (especially when we went cave tubing in Belize).

I have to agree that mosquitos are not something I worry about in Orlando and I have never used any spray. Disneyland California however . . . that was a different matter. One of the parks is built around a lake and I got bitten several times.

My best friend's son caught West nile virus while in Orlando, staying in the Disney area. Unknown to them at the time you can actually get an injection to help prevent encephalitis. Seeing the drastic effects of this virus first hand, it's advisable that people really don't just see mosquitoes as pesky little insects and really do whatever they can to protect themselves. Remember a pool screen isn't prevention. Walking down the street, coming out of the car, sitting outside a bar with a drink and also playing at community pools are all places you can easily get bitten. No need for alarm obviously as it is extremely rare, but no one is immune.

Buy a bottle of "OFF", Walmarts stock it. It will keep any biters away, including noseeums, mossies are prevalent at dawn & dusk & do like perfume & other strong smells & water.
