    BEAD SHOPS

    Hi Guys,

This question is directed mostly at the ladies (I think). My better half is into making jewellery as a hobby/sideline (and very good she is too). I (she) was wondering if anybody out there knows of any bead/ jewellery making shops generally in the Orlando area and more specifically in the area around orange tree which is, I am led to believe, close to the junction of highway 27 and I4.

    Thanks once again in anticipation.

There is a shop in Old Town, Kissimmee, called Black Market Minerals it sells lots of beads mostly natural stone, silver and shell/coral, and jewellery making items, it even has strings of pearls to use in your own designs.

This shop will keep your better half occupied for ages, and they also have an online shop so you can see the range of beads that they stock....hundreds of them [msnsmile]

To get there from Orange Tree go south on the Hwy 27, then along the 192 and you are there. It is about 8 miles I think

I bought quite a few jewellry findings and beads for my daughter a couple of weeks ago from Michaels and Walmart. They had some good tools reasonably priced as well. As she's pinche my jewellry pliers I bought a double sided box with sections for beads on one side and 3 types of pliers/cutters and a set of tweezers on the other, cost around $6. Tried them out when I gave them to her and they are sprung much better than mine and more comfortable to use.

The one Shirley mentioned is also very good and the children usually enjoy rustling through the many gems and stones they have there.

I think there's a Black Market Minerals at Festival Bay at the top of International Drive, beside Outdoor World.

Michaels is the best in my opinion and you can find them in quite a few places.
