    MCO v Tampa

Given the choice which airport would you pick?
We are going out to the villa in Jan and have the choice to fly into MCO or Tampa with BA for the same price. We have never used Tampa and wondered which airport is the easiest.
We are located at Southern Dunes so the distance from the airport is not an issue.
Would be interested to hear any comments.
    Thanks
    Denise

Denise we always choose Tampa over MCO when we fly with BA. It's so much quicker to get through customs and car hire, also a really good straight drive to SD.

I would also go for Tampa, used it this year much quieter than MCO. Also immigration has the one long queue system. I think this is much better a sI always seem to choose the queue that doesn't move.
Not all car hire desk are on site though. If you are using the car hire on this forum best to go for budget or dollar as they are on site.

I have to be honest and say MCO as the drive from Tampa after a long flight seems daft to me and I don't really find there is much difference in how busy each airport is[msnsmile2]

Tampa everytime as you get through so very much quicker and the drive over to Southern Dunes is easy.

Tampa gets my vote too. Very quick through immigration. You go into a room that is empty because no other international flights arrive anywhere near the BA flight time and the officers are waiting for you!! Last time I used it they had 10 officers working. We were through before our bags were and we weren't near the front of the plane either.

The drive up the I4 is easy, toll free and very well signposted from airport/car hire to I4.

Going home again check in is quick and easy and Tampa has some great restaurants where you can relax and get a decent meal before flying out. Some fast food places, but unlike Orlando they appreciate that not everyone wants the 'food' that these places serve up.[msnsmile2][msnsmile2]

It takes an hour to get to my home from Tampa, as opposed to 30 minutes or a bit less from Orlando. However, when you add in all of the waiting time at Orlando, I get to my home quicker from Tampa.

If you ever take an indirect flight then Tampa wins hands down here too. It's a breeze getting through the airport on arrival.[msnsmile2][msnsmile2]

I agree Tampa for us! It really doesn't take that much longer to drive from there.

MCO with PE and Dollar Express for me and you will be out in no time at all. I am always one of the first off the plane and through customs before my bags arrive even though they come off the flight first and by the time they have reached the other end I have my car grab my waiting bags and I am in the house 25 minutes after leaving the airport.
