How much does tax work out as? What is it applicable to?

In Florida there is sales tax which is basically the same as our VAT. The main differences are the rates; 17.5% UK and 7% USA. Also, most prices in Florida are plus tax.

If you are talking about accommodation though as well as the Sales tax there is also a Tourist and resort tax which is 4/5% depending on the Couny it is situated in so effectively the tax is around 12/13%.

For sales tax it applies to just about everything including food.

In the state of florida sales tax varies from county to county it is made up of 6% federal and then the extra is added by each county as a discressionary tax usually 0.5 to 1%. So sales tax can be 6.5% or 7% dependant on where you by.

If I add 7% on to everything then I shouldn't go too far wrong by the sounds of it.
