Soon will be off to Orlando then down to the Gulf coast for our 25th Anniversary and hubbys 50th celebration. Any ideas on good restaurants in the area greatly received.
Thanks Lynne

Captain's Table at Fisherman's Village, Punta Gorda (this is the upstairs portion of Harpoon Harry's at the end of the village)- this would be my choice for Anniversay/Birthday celebration.
Daniel's, Cape Haze Drive
Fishery Restaurant, Placida (near the turning for Boca Grande)
Jam's - 8051 Placida Road -there is also a newish restaurant near Jam's and the name escapes me but another owner is sure to add it.
Prime Time - 5855 Placida Road, noisy - not really suitable for a 'quiet' celebration but they serve wicked Margarita's
Farlow's on the Water - on 776 towards the beach - a particular favourite of mine
There is everthing in Englewood from Denny's and McDonald's upwards - put Englewood Restaurants into a search engine and you'll find plenty to chose from.

Thanks Clare. Will be around the area for a couple of weeks so any good reviews gratefully received.
I would add the Lock and Key on Englewood beach, Palm Island (you need to take the ferry over or a private boat), and the South Beach Grille on Boca Grande.
Also, Sharkey's on Venice Pier was fun, and we saw a pod of dolphins frolicking!!

The Crow's Nest at Venice is also a fantastic restaurant & ideal for a celebration, overlooks the waterway so ask for a table by the window if you go. Reservations will be required.
The Blue Lagoon on Cape Haze Dr is another Italien quite formal & the food is rich.
Rhum Bay is fun as you take the launch from behind Johnny Leverocks which is on Placida Rd, it takes about 25 mins to get there.
Jams is an Italien on Placida Rd, excellent food & the cocktails are scrumptious.
The Colunbia Restaurant in Sarasota on Armanyd Circle is excellent
try the siganture salad one is enough for 2 if you go for lunch.
For breakfast The Egg & I, cash only or cheque, Cape Haze Dr.
The Olive Garden in Port charlotte is nice for regular meals.
And not forgetting Hooters if you go on biker night the atmosphere is great, very noisy as only in america & laid back, grab a bucket of beers & wings.

I would agree with Sharkeys on the Pier. Its about a half hour drive from Englewood to Venice but well worth the trip. Its a busy place doing over 1000 covers a day but there is plenty to do while waiting for your table with the fishing pier right beside it and a beautiful beach alongside.

Daniel’s, 3745 Cape Haze Drive, Rotonda West is our favourite for a special celebration. Don't get put off by the exterior. Great cocktails and fantastic food.

La Scala on South McCall Rd is a lovely Italian restaurant. The food is superb, the service excellent and they have a very good wine list. I think it would be appropriate for a special occasion.
I also like Farlows on the Water as you can sit outside, lovely views and also live entertainment several times a week. The menu has a Caribbean theme.
Although I like the views at Sharkey's I'm not sure I'd go there for a special occasion. I prefer lunchtime as you can gaze out to sea.
There are really lots of good choices in the area. Hope you enjoy your visit.
