We just came back yesterday, we used Alamo in Sanford airport, we also booked a 7 seater SUV gold option .
Before we got to the desk I watched a young couple being hounded into upgrading from an itermediate to a 7 seater, so I was ready for the desk clerk before we got to him, but when we got to the desk and he looked at our paperwork and just clicked a few buttons and said would you like a Durango [ our first choice]. No mention of buying extra insurance either.

May I say though this is our 15th time in Florida , and the upgrade scam only worked on us the very first time we went 15 years ago . Now when they say thet dont have our chosed grade of car I just tell them to upgrade me free of charge or refund my money in full .

Most of the time we order a small two door coupe which they never have and we get told just to take a car in the next group up...

Whilst we were waiting for a clerk in MCO at the Alamo desk last month I was watching the people being served ahead of me, if the clerks spent last time trying to upgrade cars and insurance the wait would be far less for everyone, when we got to the front of the line there was no problem though,we had our documents and were away from the desk in no time.but thry do still seem to try the hard sell on many arriving guests.
