    Niagara Falls US/Canada

Hi,hopefully someone here will have the answer !! We are playing a trip to New York end of May and need to know the pro's/con's of crossing over to Canada from US. Whilst we may get out of US into Canada, can we get back in OK without loads of Passport/Visa/ESTA requirments. All I want to do is drive up to the falls, stay on the Canadian side, do the tours and come back across to head back to New York!! - Anybody done this trip ??

We did this a few years ago and had no problem at all.

    Still no problem.

The "Green" tag from the Visa Waiver form is left in your passport when you cross from the US into Canada and you get a Canadian Visa stamp valid for 6 months. Going back into the US just show your passport and they see the Green tag; no need to even get out of the car.

When you say New York do you mean the city? Bank on 6 or 7 hours drive to Buffalo from NYC.

Niagara On the lake and the wine growing region is worth a visit and only 20 to 30 minutes drive from the Falls.

I've crossed the Canadian border and back too without trouble. It was also a few years ago.

We flew up to Buffalo and then took a tour across the border, no problem getting in to Canada but the customs officers on the US side coming back held us up because the officers at Orlando had stapled all of our green visa waiver forms into one passport, he was adamant that they should be stapled in each individuals passport and even phoned Orlando to discipline them, eventually, he let us through, I think he was one of those that you hear so much about when people talk about US immigration officials.

Well actually the Canadian border is a soft spot and the police there is under a lot of pressure, so it probably pis.ed him off that his colleague in Orlando didn't do the right thing with your visa waiver forms. I can think of many occasions when members of a same family could be separated and their passports controlled: each passport should have its own waiver form, as you learned the hard way, as it sure wasn't your fault [msnwink]

I love the pics of Niagara Falls, they're great!

We did this 2 years ago. Booked a day trip with [name edited] (£199 each).

Flew from JFK to Buffalo, 50 minute flight.
Tour guide took us to the US side of the falls, then thru to Canada for lunch then down onto the maid of the mist boat.

Returned to US side for a stop at goat island.

My recommendation is that once at goat island, pay to do the cave of the winds ($10). Amazing!! If you want to see some photos then DM me and i will send you some. It is a must in my opinion!!

Then taken back to Buffalo for the flight back.

Transfers to and from the hotel are included.

We were in New York for 8 days but one of our best days was up to Niagara.

Last time we travelled as a family, the man at immigration asked if we were travelling back together and when we said 3 of us were, he put the 3 wavers together in one passport and the other one in its own passport....
