Wednesday – Today was a bit overcast ( although still 95 degrees ) so after dropping Sam at camp we had a slow start at home followed by a short shopping trip to Publix to stock up with some milk and coffee. We then came back to the house, collected some reading material and headed for Captain J’s bar for some refreshment and chill reading. We ended up chatting with the bar staff and spent a very enjoyable afternoon. I then retrieved Sam and we had Pizza Hut for tea and a quiet night in as some of us ( hubby ) where a little tiddled to say the least.
Camp KSC – Day 3 – Today was the day for “ The Mission”. The Shuttle was to go up and retrieve a satellite and do some experiments in space. I was not happy to find I had not made the Shuttle Crew even though I had great scores. Apparently this was because on my previous trip to Camp I had been on the crew so I had to take turns – they say this is fair but I am still not happy! Anyway, I am now EECOM at HQ which basically means I have to read off the stats as they come in and keep an eye on the pressure – BORING! As it is it is not so boring as the crew managed to blow up the experiment (losing a side panel off the shuttle ) and then on re-entry they missed a page of instructions and got into trouble. I told them they were doomed – this was not helpful I was told. Well if they had let me fly they would not have been mincemeat all over the runway – Go figure! All in all a fun day at Space KSC – over and out for now.
Thursday – today has been glorious so hubby and I spent most of it on the beach. We took the bodyboards down and had some fun in the waves followed by some softball catching practice. It was fantastic and we where well toasted. Then we had a swim in the pool before collecting Sam and heading to the batting cages for some batting. We rounded the evening off by having dinner at the Sunset Bar and Grill, watching the sunset and chilling. Now back home watching Baseball Tonight. Bliss!
Camp KSC – Day 4 – today we made rockets!!!! We were given the materials and after we had painted them up and added the gunpowder into the nose cone ( to deploy the parachute ) Bruno – group leader – dropped some rocket fuel into the rocket and then we lit it. It went sooooo high – it was awesome. Can’t imagine my teacher back home giving me gunpowder and rocket fuel – the “elf won’t like it as my dad would say... Ha Ha! After lunch we saw a film about the space program and then got to meet a real astronaut! Tomorrow is graduation so looking forward to it.
