one thing that we have every time we barbie is bananas and we do these either one of two ways, as a savory dish with the bananas peeled and cut into lenghts about 1 - 1 1/2 inches then wrap them in bacon held together with a cocktail stick then cook until you think they are done, these are normally very popular with our guests. the other method we use is as a sweet dish just grill the whole banana in its skin, might be an idea to slightly split the skin to allow steam to escape, when done split skin and serve with fresh cream and spinkle with cinemon....

One thing tho'.....you do have to like bananas [8D][8D]

    Hi Dave

You can cook virtually anything on a BBQ, the usual stuff can be marinaded in all kinds of wines and sauces to give them a bit of different taste.

If you like fish then tuna steaks are great with lemon on them, sprinkle herbs on the burgers and sausages, salmon ccoked in foil with lemon ( I like lemon....its good for you[ )

Lobster tails ( a tad expensive but fantastic ) prawns/shrimp, any kind of fish really.

Steaks done in a red wine marinade, you can do kebabs ( made with anything, onions, meat fish red/yellow/green peppers)

The old favourite...chicken, can be done in pieces, legs, wings, then there is always lamb. pork, turkey.

Stuffed peppers, aubergines with rice, cheese, mushrooms... the choice is endless and now you have made me very hungry.

Dont forget the dips and the salad bowl, try something different than the boring old iceburg lettuce, get mixed leaves with spinach leaves added, put in olives and feta cheese, cherry tomatoes, avocado's chopped up in it. etc etc.

To top it all sink a few beers and a lovely bottle of chilled wine....who needs to dine out??

You wont believe it Anne-Marie but I am probably the worst cook on the planet ( its all in my head ) I just read a lot of cookery books, I am full of good ideas but when I put it to practice I fail misererably[:I] When my friend Trish reads this thread, she will have absolute hysterics...now that lady is an amazing cook !!

That's ok, you can invite Trish round!!!

Actually you're just like me - can't cook great either but have a terrific hubby who does and enjoys it - I wash the dishes! (when the dishwasher is broken)

Sausages might be a bit problematical Dave as they're not the same in the US as in the UK!

Try fresh corn on the cob BBQ'd slowly in foil. Or jacket spuds cooked in the oven and finished off on the BBQ, also in foil, served with sour cream and some chives.

One tropical type pud (yes, it involves bananas Andy!) is to skin bananas and put them in foil, together with a sploosh of fresh orange juice and some shredded coconut. Wrap up and seal and put them on a cooler portion of the BBQ (while you're eating your main meal) and then just unwrap and serve with a dollop of cream (or sour cream or ice cream). Scrummy!

If all else fails with the 'home' cooking, you can always try Sonny's or Fat Boys' BBQ on the 192!

I am now realising how limited my cooking skills are.My mouth is watering just thinking about. That banana one with orange juice sounds great.I always seem to burn everything so it seems that tin foil is the key
